While doing research for this project, I found an excess amount of imformation that supports those who say the media has a negative influence. I found that: 40% of kids who watch an excess amount of smoking in movies start smoking themselves (Rolfe), kids around the age of twelve persuade their mom or dad to spend nearly $500 million a year because of advertisements (Ransohoff), " adolescents who developed an early interest in rock music were more likely to be influenced by their peers and less influenced by their parents than older adolescents." (Impact of Music Lyrics and Music Videos on Children and Youth (RE9144) (2009). What surprised me was how much parents spend a year because of advertisements. Those advertisers must have done their homework because that is ridiculous.I did find some good information: Sesame Street or Mister Rogers- can help with the idea of educational TV improving the knowledge of younger kids. There is evidence that also shows that a child's imaginative playing can have positive outcomes on kids (Educational TV Has Positive Effects on Toddlers and Preschoolers).
I like how you presented both sides of the argument. Media can be both good and bad, depends on how it is used and how often. Keep up the good work. Your topic is awesome Raekwon, well to me it is because this what I want to pusure. Keep Up the Good Work.
